GREEN TRAIL: Pond Plunge, 5K, Intermediate. Ski past open
meadows, through white birch groves and alongside rock formations
where you can see signs of our resident animal dens. The green trail
will take you atop the orchard ridge and then down the famous Pond
Plunge section of the trail. Moderate ups and downs on this trail,
however there's plenty of room to maneuver.
PURPLE TRAIL: Orchards, 6K, Intermediate. This
trail is similar to the green trail but 1K longer. The purple trail
is a bit more work with a testy uphill ski. The picnic table is
one of our most famous resting spots and a welcome sight for any
skier. You will be rewarded for all those hills you skied up with
a leisurely ride back down to the lake. This is possibly the most
skied trail at Mountain Meadows.
BROWN TRAIL: South Ridge, 9K, Advanced. The
brown trail has been recognized as one of the most exciting cross-country
ski trails in New England. To start, you will share the beginning
of the purple trail until you reach the picnic table. This is where
you should lace up your shoes, pull down your glasses, and get ready
for a 1K downhill that you will never forget. Once your descent
is over, yo'čll cross Thundering Brook Road and begin your trek
home. You'll pass Thundering Brook, climb through an area we call
the Cannon, ski along Knife's Edge, traverse a beautiful a beautiful
hardwood forest, and eventually arrive back at the Ski Center.
BLACK TRAIL: North Ridge, 11K, Advanced. If
you like hills and you're ready for a great workout, go directly
to the black trail. This trail will take you through beautiful pine
tree groves and eventually to the highest point in the trail system,
Hutchins Hill. Here you will find Hutchins Cabin, a great place
to rest and take in the views before you descend back down to the
valley.
BLUE TRAIL: The Ridge trail, 15K, Advanced.
This is our longest single trail and one that will challenge even
the best skiers. The blue trail combines the black and brown trails
in one fell swoop. Depending on snow conditions, plan on 1-1/2 to
2 hours to complete this trail.
PLEASE RESPECT LAND OWNERS' RIGHTS. STAY ON TRAIL! NO PETS! DO NOT
LITTER! PLEASE DON'T WALK ON GROOMED SKI TRAILS. CHECK AT THE FRONT
DESK FOR TRAIL CONDITIONS AND RATINGS OF SPECIFIC TRAILS FOR THE
DAY. ALL TRAILS START AND FINISH AT THE SKI CENTER. ONCE YOU HAVE
CHOSEN A TRAIL (OR COLOR) SKI IT TO COMPLETION. NUMBERS ON TRAIL
SIGNS INDICATE KILOMETERS BACK TO SKI CENTER. CAUTION: Even our
groomed trails can be hazardous. Changing weather and other factors
can alter trail conditions in a short time. Ski with caution and
never ski alone. Don't ski faster than your ability to stop. Trails
are not patrolled at day's end.
